It won't, oddly enough. Just install the plugin, and FCP will see the card, and import it as XDCAM EX. Unfortunately there is no option in Log and Transfer, nor the Sony Clip Browser, to import the footage as ProRes. For that, you need to use the MEDIA MANAGER and the RECOMPRESS option.

But it is incorrect to think of XDCAM EX as an offline codec. it isn't. It is full quality. Just rendering and color correcting with ProRes yields slightly better results.
